Trump says he won’t watch NFL, U.S. soccer if players kneel during anthem

United States President Donald Trump has stated he won’t watch Nationwide Soccer League (NFL) or U.S. soccer crew matches if gamers don’t stand for the nationwide anthem.

The U.S. Soccer Federation final week stated it had dropped its requirement that gamers stand through the anthem, saying the coverage was unsuitable and detracted from the Black Lives Matter motion.

The coverage was adopted in 2017 after U.S. girls’s nationwide crew member Megan Rapinoe took a knee through the anthem earlier than a recreation, in solidarity with NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who knelt to name consideration to racial injustice.

The difficulty returned to the fore final month after the killing in Minneapolis of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck.

Trump has been a vocal critic of gamers kneeling through the anthem, beforehand tweeting that NFL gamers who did so have been “disrespecting our Nation & our Flag”.
