The Worldwide Paralympic Committee pledged on Thursday to present members and athletes their biggest-ever grants fund of $2.2 million US subsequent yr.
The IPC stated it could start awarding grants in February, six months earlier than the Aug. 24 opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympic Video games delayed one yr by the coronavirus pandemic.
“That is the IPC’s largest ever one-off funding into its members at a time after they want it essentially the most,” the Germany-based group’s president, Andrew Parsons, stated in a press release.
The funding was introduced on the United Nations’ Worldwide Day of Individuals with Disabilities. It was supported by IPC sponsors Toyota and Citi.
