Jim Frey, who managed the Kansas Metropolis Royals to the 1980 American League pennant and Chicago Cubs inside one win of the 1984 World Sequence, has died. He was 88.
Frey died Sunday at his dwelling in Ponte Vedra Seaside, Fla., based on the Atlantic League’s Somerset Patriots, the minor league group he had been affiliated with since its launch in 1998. The Patriots didn’t announce a reason for dying.
