Canada loses Lafreniere for world juniors after Rangers refuse to release top pick

Alexis Lafreniere is not going to be going for one more gold medal this winter.

Hockey Canada mentioned in an announcement Thursday that the NHL’s New York Rangers is not going to mortgage Lafreniere to Canada’s workforce for the upcoming world junior hockey championship in Edmonton.

The Rangers chosen Lafreniere with the first-overall decide at this 12 months’s NHL draft.
