April Susanne Wiss: missing teen from Wichita for over two decades

April Susanne Wiss would be 42 now. She disappeared when she was only 16-years-old. She’s been missing from Wichita, Kansas, since January 11, 2000. Her photo above (right) is shown age-progressed to 27 years.

Some distinguishing features include a tattoo of three dots on her left hand, piercings on her ears and nose, and scars on her left hand, right wrist, and near her left eye. She had dyed brown hair and hazel eyes.

Recently, KWCH 12 News reported on the ongoing disappearance of April and how she’s been gone for 26 years.

April is listed on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System website (NamUs #MP5392). According to NamUs information, April was last seen leaving home at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Marion Road in Wichita.

April was seen heading towards Pawnee Street and Broadway Street between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. It was believed that she had her wallet, apartment keys, and pager with her.

The Charley Project website includes more photos of April, who was classified as an endangered missing person. She was 6′ tall and weighed about 165 pounds. When she left home, the television and lights were left on.

Of interest, April was supposed to testify in a felony statutory rape trials two days after she went missing. It’s unknown if her disappearance is related to her decision to testify, of if there’s another reason.

While it was believed in the beginning that she could be a runaway, it has since been indicated that her disappearance involves unclear reasons. She has not used her Social Security number since she went missing. Also, her clothes were left behind as well as $150 in cash.

Reportedly, April was going through an unruly phase and was living with a friend of her mother’s at an apartment when she went missing. She was allegedly happy with that arrangement.
