Karoline Leavitt is facing backlash after a comment she made to reporters while answering a question about a document in the newly released files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
The remark came after a reporter asked Leavitt on Tuesday to clarify a new Justice Department document stating that the president had a call with the Palm Beach Police Chief about Epstein in the early 2000s. The reporter pressed her on the apparent discrepancy, considering Trump’s more recent comment stating that he did not know about Epstein’s crimes.
Leavitt responded that the president “cut off his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein” and “was honest and transparent about that for years and years.”
“But did he call the chief in 2006?” the reporter followed up.
Leavitt could not confirm if the call happened, but reiterated he kicked Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club because he was “a creep,” and that if the call happened, it “corroborates” what Trump has said.
“And I’m sure many of you, when you read that alleged FBI report, probably thought to yourself, ‘Wow, this really cracks our narrative that we’ve been trying to push about this president for many years,’” she continued. “So, we’re moving on from that,” she ended, before answering questions that diverted to other topics.
But it was that last comment that people were not so keen to hear on social media.
“No the fuck we’re not,” Sarah Matthews, who served as deputy press secretary for the Trump administration in 2020, said.

“We’re absolutely not moving on,” added Arizona Rep. Yassamin Ansari.
“Karoline Leavitt: ‘We’re moving on from [the Epstein files].’ The rest of the world: ‘No–we’re not. Ever,’” tweeted psychologist and author Mary L. Trump, also the niece of Donald Trump.
“(Her boss’s name appears 1 million times),” said the press office account for California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
